Burlington Man Arrested for Child Luring

During the month of July, 2024, members of the Halton Regional Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (I.C.E) commenced a joint, online investigation with the Ontario Provincial Police utilizing a number of social media platforms.
As a result of this investigation, on October 3, 2024, Eric Straughan-Ostrosky (28) of Burlington, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Luring a Child (3 Counts)
- Making Child Pornography
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is pleased to share the results of the annual Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Enforcement Blitz that was held at Elements Casino Mohawk on October 1 and 2.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has completed the first phase (Summer 2024) of Project #Unplated, with the goal of identifying unplated motorcycles and dangerous drivers. The project was initiated due to an unprecedented amount of unplated motorcycles failing to stop for police officers, an act which is most often seen during the warm summer weather.

Missing Person: Irma

**UPDATE**
Police are still looking for Irma Galastica (32) of Toronto.
Investigators are concerned for Irma's safety and believe she was in the Burlington/ Hamilton area on August 31, 2024.
Anyone who may have seen her or has any information is urged to contact police directly or Crime Stoppers.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Traffic Services Unit has compiled statistics from this year's Project Safe Start road safety initiative and failing to stop at a stop sign was found to be the most common offence observed by HRPS officers across Halton region.
The Project Safe Start campaign ran from Monday, August 26, 2024, to Friday September 6, 2024, and focused on education, awareness and high-visibility enforcement of traffic laws throughout the region.
