The Legal Services Department provides a full range of legal support to the Halton Regional Police Service and the Halton Police Board.
This includes but is not limited to offering advice in relation to criminal, provincial, civil, and corporate law, preparing legal documents and responses to court motions, applications and orders, managing civil actions, claims, and applications brought against the Halton Police Board, the Chief of Police, and other Service members, and prosecuting Police Services Act matters.
Legal Documents
- Requests for officer notes, occurrence reports, and other police records required for civil proceedings should be made in writing to LegalServices@haltonpolice.ca
- Direct requests for information from police officers (other than information available through the Records Information Services Unit) by insurance or legal representatives shall also be made in writing to LegalServices@haltonpolice.ca. Direct interviews of officers will not be granted.
