A new Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) 1 District (12 Division) Police Station is currently under construction in the Hornby community in the town of Halton Hills.

The new, 66,000 square-foot police station will support the delivery of policing services to the residents of Milton and Halton Hills beginning in 2026.

Where is the new 1 District (12 Division) Police Station going to be located?

The new police station is situated on 5.25 acres located near the intersection of Steeles Avenue and Sixth Line South in Halton Hills, just north of Highway 401. The address of the station is 7930 Hornby Road, Halton Hills.

Why is a new 1 District (12 Division) needed?

The new facility will replace 1 District’s 12 Division Police Station located at 490 Childs Drive in Milton, which was built in 1997. The age of the Milton station, combined with population growth in Halton Hills and Milton, have resulted in the HRPS outgrowing the current facility. In 2023, the Halton Police Board approved a larger, more modern police station to ensure the HRPS can continue to meet the needs of these communities in the future.

The new station will be the Service’s most modern facility, featuring leading-edge systems such as rooftop solar panels, which will measurably reduce electrical consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

What is the timeline for the new 1 District (12 Division) Police Station?

Halton Region began construction on the new facility in May 2024. It is anticipated that the new station will open in 2026.

During construction, local residents can expect to see some minor impacts related to construction. For more information about this, visit halton.ca

What will happen to the current 1 District (12 Division) Police Station located in Milton?

The current 1 District (12 Division) will remain open until the new facility is completed, after which time the building will be given back to Halton Region.

During and after construction, members of the public should expect no impact to police services in Milton or Halton Hills.

What services will be offered at the new 1 District (12 Division) Police Station located in Halton Hills?

The new station will be equipped to accommodate 390 members and will be home to 1 District Operations, one of three Halton Regional Police Service Collision Reporting Centres, and prisoner lock-up space. Once open, members of the public will be able to visit the new Police Station during open hours.
