A man is facing multiple gun and drug charges after an early morning traffic stop in Oakville.
On November 16, 2024, at approximately 4:30 am, Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) officers witnessed a vehicle driving at extreme speeds as it exited the QEW at Royal Windsor Drive.
The vehicle entered the Ford Assembly Plant where a traffic stop was conducted by HRPS officers.
The male was found to be in possession of a loaded semi-automatic firearm and drugs including cocaine and fentanyl.
As a result of the investigation the lone male driver, 27-year-old, Dejaun Gibbs of Toronto was charged with the following:
- Dangerous Operation
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition
- Carry Concealed Weapon
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Firearm, Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (2 counts)
- Fail to Comply -Being on a Release Order
- Possession for the Purpose - Schedule 1 – Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose - Schedule 1 – Fentanyl

At the time of his arrest, Gibbs was on a Release Order with conditions not to possess any weapons.
