The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has laid multiple charges after loaded firearms and drugs were found during an Oakville traffic stop.
On December 19, 2024, at 9:05 a.m. the HRPS was made aware of a possible impaired driver operating a black Honda Civic in the area of the QEW and Bronte Road in Oakville. HRPS officers responded locating the suspect vehicle at Bronte Road and Saw Whet Boulevard and a traffic stop was conducted. An investigation was undertaken during which three loaded firearms and a quantity of illegal drugs were located inside the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation the driver of the vehicle, Rafe Chowdhury (27), of Hamilton has been charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired - Drugs
- Possession of Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized (3 Counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (3 Counts)
- Careless Use of a Firearm (3 Counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle (3 Counts)
- Carry Concealed Weapon (3 Counts)
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (3 Counts)
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydro Morphine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking - Oxy
The vehicle passenger, Sabrina Vieira (23), of Innisfil has been charged with the following:
- Possession of Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized (3 Counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (3 Counts)
- Careless Use of a Firearm (3 Counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle (3 Counts)
- Carry Concealed Weapon (3 Counts)
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (3 Counts)
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydro Morphine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking - Oxy
Chowdhury and Viera were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
