The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest and laid charges after a stabbing attack in Oakville.

On Sunday October 6, 2024, at approximately 12:50 pm police were called to the Oakville GO transit station located at 214 Cross Avenue for reports of a stabbing. An adult female victim was stabbed in the back with a knife and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police located a suspect near the scene of the stabbing and placed him under arrest.

Matthew Valley, a 23-year-old male of No Fixed Address, has been charged with Attempted Murder and Breach of Probation.

The victim is not known to the accused and investigators believe this to be a random attack.

Valley was held in custody by police pending a bail hearing in Milton.
