The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest and laid multiple charges in relation to an attempted auto theft in Milton.

On August 15, 2024, at 2:02 a.m., police were called to a residence in the area of Main Street East and Thompson Road North in response to reports of two suspects attempting to steal a Toyota Tundra pick-up truck. Officers arrived on scene as one of the suspects was fleeing in a dark-coloured sedan while the other attempted to do so in the Tundra.

Officers quickly contained the Tundra and located the suspect in the driver’s seat. The suspect initially resisted arrest, however, was quickly brought under control. Although not used by the suspect, a knife that had been in within easy reach of the suspect was subsequently located inside the vehicle. A reprogramming device was also located in the truck.

A brief pursuit of the dark-coloured sedan was initiated after it intentionally made contact with an HRPS cruiser, but was called off a short time later in the interest of public safety.

There were no confrontations between the suspects or members of the public nor were there any injuries sustained by officers or the accused.

Mudasser Mojaddedi (19) of Scarborough was charged with the following:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of an Automobile Master Key

Mojaddedi was held in custody pending a bail hearing and later released with an upcoming court date of September 23, 2024 in Milton.

The outstanding suspect is described as:

Male, approximately 6’0”, slim build wearing a black hoodie, dark-coloured pants, and light-coloured shoes.

“We hear and share the deep concerns expressed by the residents of Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills who have been victims of auto theft in this region,” said Stephen Tanner, Chief of Police. “The alarming rate that this increasingly brazen and unacceptable crime is happening in our community and provincewide is absolutely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We continue to pursue all means at our disposal to respond to this priority public safety issue and hold those responsible for it to account, and call upon government, manufacturers, and citizens alike to do the same.”
