The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has laid multiple charges against two male suspects who were identified in relation to four violent carjackings across Burlington and Oakville in October 2023.

In all incidents, the suspects approached the drivers in public areas and attempted to physically remove them from their high-end vehicles. A handgun was seen, however none of the victims suffered any physical injuries.

In response to these carjackings, officers with the HRPS 2 District (Oakville) and 3 District (Burlington) Robbery Teams launched a thorough investigation to identify those responsible. With the assistance of the Hamilton Police Service BEAR Unit (Break and Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery), detectives leveraged multiple investigative techniques which led to the identification and arrest of the two suspects on June 27, 2024.

A 15-year-old male resident of Hamilton has been charged with the following based on counts stemming from an occurrence that took place on October 28, 2023:

  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Fail to Comply with Youth Probation

A 28-year-old male resident of Hamilton has been charged with the following based on counts stemming from occurrences that took place on October 7, 21, 28, and 29, 2023:

  • Robbery with a Firearm (4 Counts)

The identity of the 28 year old male accused has been withheld in order to protect the identity of the accused male youth in this matter.

Both suspects are being held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

The investigation is ongoing as investigators continue to search for additional suspects.
