The HRPS Children's Safety Village is an interactive learning environment that gives primary school-aged children the opportunity to learn about community and personal safety. Safety Village’s unique learning space, containing a miniature town complete with paved roads, traffic signals, a railroad crossing, and sidewalks, provides a realistic and safe setting for children to learn and explore. The 1.5-acre site is located adjacent to the Halton Regional Centre located at 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville. Please see a map of the location here.
Safety Village programming is 1hour 15 minutes in length and is offered free of cost to all Halton Region schools. The Village is closed for all school breaks and holidays, including the months of July and August. Transportation to and from the Children's Safety Village is the responsibility of participating schools.
Beginning April 2024, schools will be able to select their chosen date and time of attendance as well as their preferred program from our seasonal offerings. Please refer to below for detailed descriptions of each program. We kindly remind educators to select only programs that align with their current class’ grade. Due to funding allocation requirements, the Grade 2 Road Safety program will continue to be offered on specific days only.
Note that all students attending the Road Safety and Bike Safety Programs listed below must complete a liability waiver. Click here to submit your waiver online.
